There is a new driver in the front seat at MINI Middle East, where Andreas Gollwitzer has recently joined as the new Head of MINI, overseeing the business across the region.

AGMC, the official BMW Group's importer for Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, has achieved remarkable results from January to June, with BMW sales rising by 6% and MINI by 16% in comparison to the same period in 2016. The results follow the launch of two of the groups most popular models; the all new BMW 5 Series, and the MINI Countryman ALL4, as well as a successful Ramadan Offers.

Electrification is one of the central pillars of the BMW Group’s corporate strategy NUMBER ONE > NEXT and the company has announced that all brands and model series can be electrified, with a full-electric or plug-in hybrid drivetrain being offered in addition to the combustion engine option. Additional electrified models will be brought to market in the coming years and beyond 2020, the company’s next generation vehicle architecture will enable further fully-electric vehicles.

The BMW Group has been a committed "local player" in the US market for a quarter-century: On 23 June 1992, the BMW Group announced its decision to build its US plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Continuous expansion of the plant with extensive additions and the decision to build the successful BMW X models in Spartanburg have made the plant the largest manufacturing facility in the BMW Group production network within the space of 25 years. During the ceremony to mark the anniversary, the all-new BMW X3 rolled off the production line in Spartanburg. More than 1.5 million BMW X3 vehicles have been delivered to customers worldwide since it was first launched at the end of 2003. The new BMW X3 will be launched in fall 2017.

The BMW Group continued the positive sales trend of the past months, with sales in May totaling 208,447 vehicles, a 5.1% increase year-on-year. With its three premium brands, BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce, the BMW Group sold 988,185 vehicles in the first five months, up 5.7%.
