Audi is adopting a standardized nomenclature for the power output designations of its worldwide range of automobiles. The names of the model series - from Audi A1 to Audi Q7 - will remain unchanged. Within the model families, combinations of two numbers will replace the various type designations previously used. The new designations stand for the specific power output and apply both to cars with combustion engines and to e-tron models with hybrid and electric engines.

Today is where the future begins in the luxury class:
The new Audi A8 makes its world debut at the Audi Summit in Barcelona. In its fourth generation, the flagship model again provides the benchmark for Vorsprung durch Technik - with a new design language, an innovative touchscreen operating concept and a systematically electrified drive. The Audi A8 is also the first production automobile in the world to have been developed for highly automated driving. From 2018, Audi will gradually be taking piloted driving functions such as parking pilot, garage pilot and traffic jam pilot into production.

On Tuesday 11 July, Barcelona will be the setting for a world premiere. At the first Audi Summit, the premium brand will present some innovations along its path to becoming the premium digital car company. Attended by 2,000 opinion leaders from all over the world, the Ingolstadt-based company will also present its new flagship, the Audi A8. Friends and fans of the brand worldwide will follow the event live on July 11 from 09:30 a.m. (CEST) onwards on www.audimedia.tv.

The new Audi A8 proves itself a versatile performer on the road. Thanks to its active suspension, it provides comfort-oriented customers with a chauffeur-driven sedan offering a stylishly smooth ride. The enthusiastic owner-driver can relish the characteristics of a sports car. This flexibility is made possible thanks to the new active suspension based on the 48-volt electrical system, which is used for the first time as the main electrical system. The new Audi A8 makes its world debut at the Audi Summit in Barcelona on July 11.

Audi is writing a new chapter in its lightweight design success story. For the next generation of the Audi A8, an intelligent mix of four materials is being used for the first time in the weight-bearing body structure - more materials than in any of the brand’s previous production models. The luxury sedan is thus once again rightfully claiming its role as an innovation driver in automotive lightweight design: Its low weight and impressive rigidity offer greater performance, efficiency and safety.
