April 2015

Another successful Geneva Motor Show has wrapped up, and as you can see in our coverage in this edition of ArabWheels, there was an absolute ton of hot new metal at this year's show. The most ideal aspect about the Geneva Motor Show is that there really is always something for everyone. From concepts to supercars and electric vehicles, the show hit pretty much every automotive enthusiast's cosmos.

Every month, an interesting story grabs my attention. This month it is the German carmaker, Porsche.

2014 was the most successful year in Porsche's history, which is why the executives at Porsche decided to award its employees the biggest bonus ever. Porsche's Executive Board and the General and Group Works Council agreed that employees would receive a gross voluntary bonus amounting to $USD 9,440 consisting of two components: excellent corporate result and for workforce performance in the previous financial year 2014, and a special contribution to the Porsche VarioRente (company pension scheme) or a private pension fund. About 14,600 Porsche AG employees are eligible for the bonus for the year 2014, with adjustments for personal working time and if employees joined the company during the year.

A rather hard hitting story for this month is about my colleague in the automotive media industry, fellow Jeremy Clarkson. It is official: BBC confirmed on Wednesday, March 25, that Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson will not have his contract renewed because he punched a producer earlier this month.

Our cover story has been dedicated to the most powerful and fastest sedan on earth, the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat producing 707 horsepower. To all muscle car lovers, this is from us to you!

In our regional drives, our team drove the AMG GT along with other AMG models on the Yas Marina Circuit. And we flew to Oman to test the new Volkswagen Touareg.

Moving on to the Editors' Choice section, Ershad drove both the Toyota FJ Cruiser TRD and Fiat 500 in Dubai. I personally drove the 2015 Audi A7 PI (facelifted version) during my stay in Dubai.

In Aspen, Colorado, David drove the Maserati Ghibli S Q4 and the 2015 Triumph XCx motorcycle.

I move into my second month of the long term test drive onboard the Chevy Trax. This month, I include an informative table that compares the Trax to its rival vehicles in Beirut.

During the Geneva Auto Show, we have a chat with Mamoru Aoki, design director at Nissan. He tells us about the philosophy behind Nissan's new design signature.

Our social media network is always at your disposal for the latest and fastest auto news: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and certainly our Web TV www.arabwheels.tv.

I leave you here and see you next month with some new action and debuts after the New York Motor Show!
