2014 Mazda3

Impeccable to fit all ages

The compact 2014 Mazda3, a full-scale redesign, has already landed on the Lebanese soil. We picked our demo car from the official distributor of Mazda in Lebanon, ANBoukhater, for a weekend drive. After two generations sharing platforms with Ford and Volvo, the 2014 Mazda3, the platform's third generation, was engineered completely in-house, allowing Mazda engineers to work free of outside constraints.

Driving Impressions
Totally everything about the Mazda3 is refined for 2014, from its chassis to its engines and everything in between, and it was done in an entirely fresh and full way. Each piece and stamping essential to pin and link together an automobile was reconsidered to certify the Mazda3 has all the capabilities to contest with benchmarks such as the Honda Civic, Ford Focus, Toyota Corolla and Volkswagen Jetta.

At first sight, the 2014 Mazda3 looks pretty in pictures, but its shapes is even superior when seen up close and personal. From Mazda's Kodo design language, the 3 pulls quite of creativeness from the CX-5 and Mazda6.

Inside we find one of the pleasantest cabins in the segment. At first sight, the interior didn’t look all that spacious, but, as it turned out, there was plenty of space both up front and in the back. However, the interior dimensions never lie. The Mazda3 Sedan is positioned somewhere in the middle of its class in terms cabin space. It can seat four adults in good comfort!

The main LCD screen can be operated by touch or by using a Commander joystick between the two front seats. Settling on a seven-inch screen with seven total items on screen at any given time because that's the maximum most people can scan at a glance. Things like the font size, too, were optimized for use while driving. We didn't have any trouble using Mazda's new infotainment, and we think it offers enough features to please all but the most tech-happy owners. We think it's really cool!

The most important thing is the driving. I honestly liked the way the 2014 Mazda3 drives. Steering is a pleasure, aided by a rack-mounted electronic power steering unit. Wheels check in at 16 inches in base trim, and enlarge to 18 inches when moving up to higher-end models. The larger tires are a better choice for absolute handling performance, and they look better in the wheel arches, too. All Mazda3 drivers will relish the crispy handling and sporty responsiveness.

Regarding the pricing standard, the Mazda3 Sedan is in the higher level of the compact sedan class. Despite that, its agreeably sorted overall package earns it. Numerous Mazda's competitors offer nice alternatives. There isn't anything wrong to choose those cars. But if money isn’t an issue the 2014 Mazda3 is more fun to drive than any of its rivals and not to forget to mention it's also attractive!
