Jaguar F-Type 2.0

More reasons to value the F-TYPE!

"There's just something about a sports car that brings you back to your youth, and this happened to me in Norway!" said Mark.

"New Jaguar F-TYPE delivers a beautifully balanced, agile and high-performance sports car."

"Recognized as the most performance driven Jaguar ever, since its inception in 2012."

"Changes to the exterior and interior include brand new LED headlamps and lighter, slimmer seats which greatly improve legroom and space."

Jaguar has introduced the latest edition to its F-TYPE family, with the launch of its new F-TYPE R-Dynamic model. ArabWheels joined media colleagues from across the MENA region at the Global Media Drive in Norway. We commenced our test drive in the stunningly beautiful ski resort of Stranda, and ended it at Alesund Airport. So what did I make of Jaguar's newest F-TYPE vehicle?

Jaguar engineers have made a number of significant changes and updates to the new F-TYPE this year. The changes to the exterior and interior include brand new LED headlamps, lighter, slimmer seats, which greatly improve legroom and space - whilst the F-TYPE R-Dynamic is also fully-equipped with all the latest technology, including 4G connectivity and the latest Touch Pro infotainment system. F-TYPE R-Dynamic features sport seats with grained leather and suede-cloth facings - and its embossed tread-plates and center console are finished in Delta aluminum. The design enhancements give the F-TYPE R-Dynamic model an even more focused and confident look - and it conveys a strong sense of presence. At the front are the beautifully designed LED headlights that sit above bold Gloss Black air intake surrounds. However, the highlight of the new changes is undoubtedly the introduction of the brand new four-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine, which produces 300 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque.

The new F-TYPE is a 2.0-liter turbocharged unit, which delivers 300 horsepower that can accelerate the car from zero-to-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. Although that is perhaps not a jaw-dropping speed, it is still fast enough for you to have a lot of fun on these long, winding Norwegian roads. The new engine has actually helped engineers reduce the overall weight of the car by more than 50 kilograms, compared with the V6 variant, for example. The majority of the weight reduction is actually coming over the front axle, which subsequently results in a beautifully balanced car that is agile. Furthermore, it initiates a solid steering response - and with 300 horsepower, Jaguar's newest member of its family delivers a phenomenal high-performance result. Fuel efficiency, Jaguar claims, is one aspect of the new F-TYPE that is vastly improved to that of its predecessors in the F-TYPE class. The latest F-TYPE R-Dynamic four-cylinder, for example, offers a 16-percent improvement over the existing V6. This means that the 2.0-liter manages an official combined economic figure of 7.2 L/100 km, and C02 emissions of 163 g/km. One other striking feature of the F-TYPE is the four-cylinder exhaust note. I love the noise that blasts from the exhaust, and this was enhanced when we drove through a number of tunnels on our way to the airport. The echoed sound of the exhaust inside the tunnel crackled for what felt like an eternity when we pushed the throttle of the F-TYPE. Acoustic engineering through the car's speaker system actually artificially heightens the sound, although it sounds awesome and not artificial at all.

Jaguar has enabled buyers to make the new F-TYPE uniquely your own. You can select the body and roof colors - and the wheels to complement them. In addition to this, you can tailor your own personal interior styling, in which you can specify your ideal seats, textures and color combinations. And with Jaguar's exceptional collection of options, style packs and accessories, your F-TYPE becomes truly bespoke!

Connected driving option
Another compelling feature in the new F-TYPE R-Dynamic is that it can provides a precise, connected drive, thanks to a range of factors which include an all-round double wishbone suspension, Electronic Power Assisted Steering (EPAS), and its choice of responsive, powerful engines. In addition to this, All Wheel Drive Automatic or Rear Wheel Drive Manual or Automatic is available depending upon your choice of engine.

The F-TYPE range is already recognized as the most performance driven Jaguar ever, and since its inception in 2012, it has continued to evolve and as a consequence has won multiple awards all over the world. The latest introduction means that customers can now choose between an even broader range of F-TYPEs, from the rear-wheel drive V6 340 horsepower F-TYPE, to that of the 320 km/h of the all-wheel F-TYPE SVR, seen as Jaguar's 'all-weather' supercar. Some Jaguar engineers have labeled the new F-TYPE R-Dynamic as the feisty brother of the V6 and V8 models, and that can be a good summarization. I had a lot of fun driving this F-TYPE and there's just something about a sports car that brings you back to your youth, and this happened to me in Norway! It's quick, dynamic and agile - and its light design probably makes you feel like you're going quicker than you actually are. However, it does truly deliver phenomenal driving performance and I absolutely adored driving the F-TYPE in Norway. It's competitively priced, and it looks like Jaguar is onto yet another winner with its new F-TYPE. It has a distinct character of its own and looks, drives and sounds like a true Jaguar sports car.

Pros: Superb sound from exhaust note, brilliant handling capabilities, high-performance, cutting-edge technology and infotainment system, 50 kg lighter than other F-TYPE models
