Ram 1500

The game changer

"A truck for every job" said Issam

"The Ram tows with confidence up to 15 tons"

"Ram 1500 combines common-sense work with a refined cabin and driving experience"

The Ram 1500 was called the Dodge Ram 1500 until a few years ago, when Chrysler Group broke off "Ram" as its truck brand. This half-ton pickup is available in regular cab, extended cab (called quad cab), and crew cab body styles; both the extended cab and crew cab have conventional front-hinged rear doors. It comes with two engines: a 3.6 liter V6 and a 5.7 liter V8.

Driving Impressions
With a variety of engines, transmissions and features to choose from, the 2014 Ram 1500 is built to deliver on every job.

The 2015 Ram 1500 retains its ruggedly handsome appearance with a great interior and exterior design aesthetics and segment-leading technology. Every Ram 1500 truck benefits from content specifically designed to match each model’s unique style. For 2015 Ram 1500s in SLT (with luxury group) and Laramie get a new instrument panel welcome screen with high quality, model specific digital graphics.

The Ram 1500 offers 11 different colors, including one new shade: Black Forest Green. Blue Streak and Granite Crystal are available in a monotone and/or two-tone depending on the model. Other colors include: Maximum Steel Metallic and Western Brown Pearl and are all available in a monotone and/or two-tone, depending on the model.

The V6 Pentastar delivers 305 hp and 365 Nm of torque and best-in-class gasoline fuel economy of 9.4 L /100km. Ram 1500 holds the top two spots in half-ton truck fuel economy, even beating small trucks. The legendary 5.7 liter HEMI V8 with fuel-saving cylinder shut-off and VVT provides 395 hp and 555 Nm of torque.

The Ram rides very well and in comparing it to the competitors it comes across as the best blend of ride and control, whether you're on 17 inch wheels or the big 20s. On rolling roads or urban traffic it shifts frequently but those shifts are suave and on-demand. The Ram HFE model incorporates automatic engine start/stop, the first pickup to do so, to save fuel. The engine switches off when the vehicle stops, electric assists keep steering, audio and ventilation systems going, and it turns on again when you lift your foot off the brake. I hear the engine restart more than feeling it, and any lag is fractions of a second.

The Ram can give everything from a very basic work truck to a near-luxury vehicle with performance and off-road models falling somewhere in between. It ticks all the five aspects in our judging criteria boxes positively. Capability is the key. Whether you're towing five tons or fifteen, there's a Ram truck that meets your needs and then some!
