November 2016

Honoring the automotive industry for the second year

Following the success of last year's event, ArabWheels Awards (AWA) is back with its 2016 edition for the Middle East automotive industry. Every year, the auto industry rolls out about 50 brand new cars, redesigned cars and other products that will be evaluated and awarded accordingly. This year we are having our ceremony at The Meydan Hotel, Rooftop level 8 on the 15th of November. We are planning to distribute 29 awards in terms of categories (divided between our juries' voting and people's voting on the website) and four other awards such as PR Agency of the Year 2016, CEO/MD of the Year 2016, Tire of the Year 2016 and finally Car of the Year 2016.

We will be sharing with you all the results of the winners in the December issue!

I have been reading some recent studies from Consumer Reports about the most reliable cars in 2016. Consumer Reports have gone and collected data on over half a million vehicles in order to put together a list of the 10 most reliable cars sold today.

Despite a car purchase generally being viewed as a long-term investment, not all vehicles can stick with you in a dependable manner. Here is the list from the most reliable to the least reliable, which you might find interesting: Toyota Prius, Lexus CT 200h, Infiniti Q70, Audi Q3, Lexus GX, Lexus GS, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Chevrolet Cruze, Audi Q7 and Toyota 4Runner.

Our November issue starts with the launch of the all-new Land Rover Discovery during the Paris Motor Show and of course coverage of the whole show with the most attractive vehicles.

Our over story has been dedicated to the most gorgeous Italian brand, Alfa Romeo. We have chosen the Giulia QV for all of the automotive enthusiasts. Bear in mind that the car has all the German rivals in its sights!

Hisham flew to Stuttgart to drive the all-new Porsche 718 Cayman and Cayman S. In Dubai, Naim drove the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu in its regional launch. Khaled drove the new Dodge Neon that is coming back with high hopes for a competitive segment.

In our Editors' Choice section, Ershad drove both the Toyota Fortuner and Bentley Mulsanne Speed.

We also covered the best automotive show that took place in Beirut: Lebanon Motorsport and Tuning Show 2016.

In the Motorsport section, I personally attended the first race of the Formula-E season that took place in Hong Kong and was the guest of the Jaguar Team. An amusing experience to be recurring on another race, hopefully!

I leave you here hoping that you will feast your eyes with our issue full of test drives, events and news. As usual, we are always available online to provide you with the latest on and on our social media platforms (facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube).
