Who doesn't know or like the Infiniti FX? I think no one. I have seen as many FXs during my whole career as anything else on our Lebanese roads! It is the most popular crossover ever from the Japanese premium manufacturer. The aggressively styled QX70 crossover entered its second generation for 2009, before its current recommendations were applied two years ago. I grabbed my demo car from RYMCO (official distributor in Lebanon) for a long weekend drive.
So what is the QX70?
It is a luxurious mid-size crossover SUV that offers sporty driving dynamics, sleek, coupe-like looks, and classy interior appointments. The QX70 comes with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. We all get used to its magnificent shape. It ranks among the most well-executed merging of sleek lines with wagon practicality; flaunting sumptuous body sheet metal below its rakish roofline.
How did it react on our Lebanese roads? Beautifully well for one reason: our roads are perfectly designed for special stages rally. The 3.7 liter V6 delivers a strong 325 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque, and comes paired with a seven-speed automatic gearbox. Working with the optional all-wheel drive system, you have the power of a sports sedan and, believe it or not, the QX70 also has the driving manners of one.
The QX70 comes with a nice list of standard features like leather heated and power seats, power moon roof, heated rear seat, power liftgate, rearview camera, Bluetooth, Bose stereo, power tilt wheel, and a lot more. It also comes with a ton of standard equipment, and an impressive list of safety and security features that you might pay almost double for with its direct rivals. Inside, the fit and finish story is still the same: top notch!
You surely want to know what my take is on the QX70. I am going to tell you in a very clear way. One thing I can say about the QX70 and FX (going all the way back to its introduction in 2002) is that it is a driver's SUV. You want it? Get it - don't hesitate. It is well priced in Lebanon, even though we have high customs on vehicles. Other than that, don't expect that it is an SUV where you can bring all the stuff from your house and put it in the rear trunk; but it will make you happy while driving it!
